Welcome back! It’s hard to believe that school is back and in full swing already. AARAO looks forward to continuing to support students this year.
To help students make the most of their time at our Fall AARAO fairs, we are offering the option for students to create a Student Profile before attending.
The profile is entirely voluntary and requires only a few pieces of information:
• Name
• Date of Birth
• Email Address
• Current School
• Current Grade
Once completed, students will receive a unique QR code that can be stored on a mobile device or printed and brought to the event if phone use is not permitted.
At the fair, students can simply share their QR code with representatives from institutions they are interested in learning more about. Rather than filling out contact cards at every booth, as is current practice, a quick scan allows students to join the prospective student mailing lists of institutions they choose to connect with.
Benefits for Students
• Spend more time having meaningful conversations with college and university representatives.
• Avoid repeatedly filling out the same contact information at multiple booths.
• Connect with more institutions during the event.
• Reduce time spent waiting in lines, helping students maximize their fair experience.
• Receive information directly from institutions they choose to engage with.
Privacy and Choice
Participation is completely optional. Students decide whether to create a profile and which institutions they share their QR code with at the fair.
Institutions only receive information when a student chooses to share their QR code. Students are not automatically added to mailing lists and maintain control over which institutions they hear from.
Any communications received from participating colleges and universities will include the ability to unsubscribe at any time in accordance with Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation.
To make this possible AARAO works with SimplyCast, a Canadian company based in Halifax. SimplyCast maintains robust security and privacy controls, including ISO 27001:2022 certification, encrypted data transmission, access controls, ongoing security monitoring, and secure data hosting in Canada. The platform has been designed to support modern privacy and compliance requirements while helping ensure that student information is stored and managed securely.
