Supply Lists
This is a general list; other supplies may be required throughout the year. Students will receive course outlines from their teachers during the first week of classes that may list specific additional supplies needed for each course.
- Binder(s) – 5 subjects (1 large binder with 5 dividers or 5 separate binders)
- Loose-leaf (5 packages) enough to last all year. Continuous supply.
- Scientific calculator. This is mandatory as most teachers do not allow cell phone calculators during tests to prevent students from cheating.
- Geometry set
- Graph paper (pad of 8 ½” x 11” sheets)
- Ruler
- Pencils and erasers (2 boxes) enough to last the year. Continuous supply.
- Black or blue pens (2 boxes) enough to last the year. Continuous supply.
- Pencil case (school policy – no drug/alcohol labels or inappropriate sayings)
- Extra pack of dividers
- Scissors, pencil crayons, colored markers, glue stick, white out, tape
- Sneakers, t-shirt, shorts, or gym pants for Phys. Ed. Gym clothes are mandatory in order to participate in Phys. Ed, which is a required course for all Grade 9 students.
- French English dictionary
- A few duo tangs and folders for project work is recommended.
- Laptop Computer or Tablet (Please see the letter on the reverse side that all Grade 8 parents should have received in the spring.)
- Student Fee – due by September 30 – $40 or $80/family.
Please note: Students cannot participate in any extracurricular activity until they have paid their student fee in full.
- When purchasing clothing and supplies please keep our school dress code in mind.
- Please be reminded that our school has a Bring Your Own Device Policy. Students will be able to connect their devices to the school Wi-Fi next year; however, there are strict parameters with regards to acceptable use of technology during class time and the use of school networks. Please note that cell phones will not be permitted during class time at NHS. Phones are only to be used during breaks and noon hour.
Laptop Subsidy Program
A laptop or tablet is a required tool to support learning in grades 9 to 12. A financial assistance program is offered by the Department of Early Childhood Development to assist with purchasing a device.
